іAdios, Vida!

Under the watchful eye of GSTC veterinarian Dr. Terry Norton and the husbandry staff, Vida returned to her old submergible self following the placement of her satellite transmitter and a bout of floating at the surface of her tank. After a week of rest and relaxation, she was given her revised travel itinerary which included a chauffeured ride to Florida’s Amelia Island for her release on Saturday, May 24th.

A few hundred people were on hand to see her get her first taste of the open ocean since her arrival at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on December 17, 2007. Her recovery complete, Vida took to the water the way a sea turtle should and is happily swimming among the waves. Follow Vida’s progress at www.seaturtle.org/tracking/?tag_id=84649 to see where her travels take her next!
